The reason we’re asked to give ourselves over to God completely as a living sacrifice is to prove that God is right. That you may prove what is good and what is acceptable and what is perfect, namely, the will of God.
All things work together for those that love God with an agape love. That’s what’s God is looking for. That pure, deep, sweet, Calvary love, that the Holy Spirit of God puts in your heart when you trust Jesus Christ, the Savior. You can’t love God unless God puts his Holy Spirit within you.
Get into the Word. Wait on God. Tell him the brutal truth about the situation. Don’t trim it. Don’t try to dress it up. Just tell Him how it is and then wait until the Spirit of God prays through you and you will have your answer.
So, instead of selfishness, there is God’s will as our priority. Instead of what I want it’s what He wants. Instead of being addicted to sin, there’s freedom from sin. Free now to obey God’s will. What a delicious freedom that is for the first time in your life to look about you and say, “Thank God, I can serve Him…”
The Holy Spirit dwells in you. If you acknowledge this — through the fact that He’s there and you’re yielding to him — you’re really, really going to live.
